Authors Sophia Huang of Mr. Roll Finds New Life, Kong Man Jing (aka Biogirl MJ) of The Intertidal Adventures of Biogirl MJ and Nur-El-Hudaa Jaffar of Pustaka Nasional show it is possible to start talking to children about recycling, the environment and climate change. Moderated by Daryl Lim Wei Jie.

Biogirl MJ
MJ is the co-founder of the Science and Environment channel called “Just Keep Thinking”, where she combines education and entertainment to create consumable, engaging content on various social media platforms. To date, the channel has grown to over 600,000 followers with audiences from all over the world. As an environmental biology graduate, MJ has previously worked in various wildlife organisations, and was also a Science teacher for 3 years. She is passionate about communicating on biodiversity and sustainability issues, and increasing access to environmental education for the mass public. She is also the co-author of an award-winning comic book on marine biodiversity. When not on camera, MJ conducts regular physical programmes such as nature guided tours, learning journeys, workshops and talks. She is also serving as a co-lead for youth groups under NYC, MSE and MCCY.

Sophia Huang
Sophia Huang is passionate about upcycling materials into toys and art with her three children, a hobby she shares on her social media page, “Craftcycle for Kids.” Her work is regularly featured in the media, and she has also participated in a video campaign by the National Environment Agency aimed at lowering consumption and waste in Singapore.

Nur-El Hudaa Jaffar
Nur-El-Hudaa Jaffar is an editorial consultant and translator. She is a published author of nine books for children, two of which have been translated. She has led workshops and sharing sessions on translating, writing and publishing.

Daryl Lim Wei Jie (Moderator)
Daryl Lim Wei Jie (林伟杰) is a poet, editor and translator from Singapore. He is the author of A Book of Changes and Anything but Human, a finalist for the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize. He conceptualised and co-edited two anthologies: Food Republic: A Singapore Literary Banquet, which won a Special Award at the 2023 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, and The Second Link, which invites Singapore and Malaysian writers to reflect on the unique relationship between the two countries.
He also translated Short Tongue, a collection by the Singaporean Chinese poet Wang Mun Kiat. He won the Young Artist Award in 2023, Singapore’s highest award for young art practitioners. You can find more of his work at http://www.darylwjlim.com.
