Secrets of Singapore: The Real Story

SAT 22 june – 1PM
NAFA CAMPUS 2 ROOM 3-05 (LEVEL 3)

Secrets of Singapore: The Real Story was first conceived by the mother-and-daughter team of Monica Lim and Lesley-Anne Tan as a fun way to teach students about Singapore’s history. It went on to cover other topics like culture, art, travel, sport, food and more. As we await the ninth title in the franchise, join co-creator Lesley-Anne, current author Angèle Lee and moderator Priti Sharma, managing editor of Epigram Books, the series publisher, for the real story behind this best-selling, award-winning series.

sPEAKERS & MODERATOR

Angèle Lee

After having a tonne of fun as an industrial engineer, Angèle has returned to her first love, writing. She adores telling stories—almost as much as she adores her husband and two boys, potato crisps, corgis and dodgy puns. Angèle earns her keep writing for businesses, but has also written a short story for the Istana’s Open House Adventures series of children’s books.

Lesley-Anne Tan

Lesley-Anne is part of a mother-daughter writing duo, best known for the Danger Dan series, which was published when Lesley-Anne was just 16. She has since published 14 books in total, including four non-fiction books in the best-selling Secrets of Singapore series, which has clinched several awards. Lesley-Anne has been invited to give talks and workshops at schools and literary events in Singapore and overseas. She has also been featured by local media, including The Straits Times, TODAYonline, and CNA938 (then NewsRadio 93.8).

Priti Sharma (Moderator)

Priti Sharma is the Managing Editor at Epigram Books. She also edits picture books, early readers and middle-grade novels. She has more than 21 years of experience teaching and developing language and literary courses at the tertiary level. Her areas of focus have been children’s literature and postcolonial literature.
