Ten years ago, AJ Low, the husband-and-wife team of Adan Jiminez and Felicia Low, published Sherlock Sam and the Missing Heirloom in Katong. As they embarked on their record-breaking nineteenth title this year, Adan and illustrator Andrew Tan, better known as Drewscape, share the story of how they created Singapore’s best-known kid detective and turned him into a best-selling and multi-award winning series. Moderated by Priti Sharma, managing editor of Epigram Books, the series publisher.

AJ Low
Adan Jimenez is a writer, editor, and translator. He co-writes the children’s mystery series Sherlock Sam with his partner Felicia Low, which has been translated into Korean, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, and more. He is the proud son of Mexican immigrant parents and became an immigrant himself when he moved to Singapore. He loves comics, LEGO, books, games (analog and video), science fiction, and food.
Felicia has worked in bookselling and publishing for over a decade. She is one half of the writing team behind the best-selling Sherlock Sam series of children’s books and is the Publisher at Difference Engine, an independent comics publishing house. Her short story Tiger Girls is being adapted into a young adult webcomic.

Andrew Tan
Andrew Tan (aka Drewscape) is a freelance illustrator and an Eisner-nominated comic artist based in Singapore. He is the author of two graphic novels – Monsters, Miracles & Mayonnaise and The Ollie Comics: Diary of a first-time dad, as well as the illustrator for the Sherlock Sam series. Priti Sharma (Moderator)
Priti Sharma is the Managing Editor at Epigram Books. She also edits picture books, early readers and middle-grade novels. She has more than 21 years of experience teaching and developing language and literary courses at the tertiary level. Her areas of focus have been children’s literature and postcolonial literature.
