Where Shall We Sleep Tonight?

These authors have not shied away from such difficult topics as dementia, and loss. Authors Edmund Lim of Where’s Grandma? and multiple award-winning author Emily Lim-Leh create captivating stores that deal with difficult topics for children and allow them to learn about these very topics. Moderated by Joanne Poon, author of Where Shall I Sleep Tonight?


sPEAKERS & MODERATOR

Edmund Lim

Edmund is an award-winning author. In addition to academic works, he has written books on the first three presidents of Singapore and a Singaporean Jewish philanthropist. He also contributed opinion editorials to The Straits Times, commentaries to The Diplomat, South China Morning Post and Today online. Edmund served as a district councillor with Central Singapore CDC and a community leader, as well as a volunteer with Jesuit Refugee Service and Singapore International Foundation.

Emily Lim-Leh

Emily Lim-Leh is a multi-award-winning author of 50 children’s books. She is a 3-time winner of the IPPY Awards and 3-time winner of the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. She was named Mediacorp’s Singapore Woman Award Honoree for inspiring readers through her books and finding her voice in writing following a challenging journey with a rare voice disorder. She is also a recipient of the Public Service Medal (Covid-19) for her informational e-picture books for the community. Little Hero, her new junior historical fiction book, is inspired by difficult real-life events in the lives of the author’s family.

Joanne Poon (Moderator)

Joanne is a theatre teacher who is passionate about making plays with young people and helping them to navigate, negotiate and understand the world around them through theatre. Her other passion is writing stories for children. She has written two children’s books about difficult issues: Brave Maeve and Where Shall I Sleep Tonight. She is very proud that Brave Maeve is now a full musical that has been staged twice. She is waiting for someone to ask her to tour it round the world.
