sPEAKERS & MODERATOR

Tan Ter Cheah

Ter Cheah is the author of “ONE,” which is loosely based on her experiences as a child with soft-tissue cancer in the late 1970s and having her right leg amputated at the mid-calf. Intended as a children’s book, she is touched that adults who have also found life’s challenges difficult have told her that the book has provided some encouragement.

The National Library Board has translated “ONE” into Bahasa Melayu, Tamil and Chinese and these hard-cover versions are available for borrowing from its libraries. “ONE” is also available in Thailand in its translated version.

A mother of two, a qualified lawyer and an accredited Think On Your Feet® trainer, Ter Cheah enjoys giving book talks in local schools, volunteering with the Children’s Cancer Foundation, and singing in choirs.

Joanne Poon

Joanne is a theatre teacher who enjoys directing plays, writing plays and stories, listening to jazz music and drinking an obscene amount of earl grey tea. She can’t help but turn all her books into plays and get it performed!

Laura Peh

Laura Peh is the founder of Cinnamon Art Publishing (est. 2020), a roving bookshop and publisher of children’s books specialising in underrepresented topics such as arts, culture and social issues. As part of their social mission, the roving bookshop supports independent publishers from developing countries with a focus on Arabic literature. Laura has been invited to trade conferences in Sharjah, Cairo, Bologna, Zagreb and Kuala Lumpur.
