Abhi Krish

Abhi is a bilingual children’s author whose stories spark curiosity around Tamil as a language, culture and people. She writes both fiction and non-fiction, from picture books for young readers to graphic novels for teens. Her books have been praised for their heartwarming stories, diverse characters, and feel-good takeaways. In addition to writing, Abhi is also a multi-disciplinary storyteller. She combines music, movement, drama and puppetry to bring alive the worlds of her books. She is a strong advocate for literacy through literature, and provides free support and resources via her initiative, Nool Monsters. Abhi’s life before writing revolved around design and creative management, tools that continue to aid her approach to visual storytelling. Calling Singapore home, she is a proud mother to an adorable sheepdog and his three jealous human siblings.

Chew Lee Ching

Lee Ching started writing children’s stories four years ago. Writing children’s stories has been her long-time aspiration. Preoccupied with her career as a marketing and brand communications professional, she couldn’t find the time to pursue this dream until COVID-19 hit us!
Business slowed down considerably, giving her more time to reconsider her priorities. In 2020, she started writing her first storybook for young readers.

Norlin Samat (Moderator)

Norlin Samat is an ex-primary school teacher with a Post-graduate Diploma in Education and an MA in Language Studies. She is a passionate educator with a career spanning more than 18 years as a teacher and an administrator in public and private education institutions.

Norlin is proud to be from a place where being bilingual is the norm. However, as a ‘lapsed bilingual’ and parent, Norlin understands that helping the little ones pick up a new language can be a challenge. She hopes her books and the work she does through Poppet will help family members and educators in their efforts to raise the next generation of bilinguals.
